Seven Names Written in Heaven: An Update from Uganda & Kenya
Ministry Update · May 2026
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." — Matthew 9:37–38
I landed back in the United States a few days ago after seven months living and serving in Uganda. Anyone who has done cross-cultural mission work knows the strange in-between of re-entry — surrounded by the familiar, yet profoundly missing the place and people you just left. That's where I am right now, and I wanted to share that honestly with you.
Saying goodbye — even knowing it's only for now — was genuinely hard. The children, the church family, the daily rhythms of life and ministry there had become deeply woven into who I am. I boarded that plane carrying a full heart and a heavy one at the same time.
I'm also stepping back into a season of personal challenge here at home. My daughter Kenya is facing some serious health difficulties right now, and that weight is very real. I'm trusting the Lord with her completely — and I'm asking you to join me in prayer for her healing and for God's peace to cover our family in this time.
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3
A word from our partners in Kenya
In January of this year, I had the privilege of traveling to Busia, Kenya to train with 40 church leaders in discipleship in two locations . The house wasn't finished. The rooms were rough. Comfort was little. But the hunger for the Word and for equipping was immense — and God showed up in that place in a beautiful way.
Coming home to this message from Bishop Dr. Moses Omuse Okisai nearly brought me to tears. I want to share it with you in full, because it belongs to all of you who have prayed and given to make this ministry possible:
"From the moment you stepped into our home in Busia, you didn't just visit — you poured out. You trained our leaders on discipleship with patience, clarity, and a heart that burns for Jesus. You served even when the house was not complete, the rooms were rough, and comfort was little. That's the spirit of Christ right there.
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." — Matthew 25:40
You left us stronger. The leaders you equipped are still teaching, praying, and discipling others. Your seed fell on good ground, and we are watching it grow.
Welcome back to Kenya, Evonne. Our doors, and our hearts, are wide open for you anytime. The house may still be a work in progress, but the home is full of gratitude for you. Come and rest, teach, and fellowship with us again.
And to your daughter Kenya — you are welcome too. Kenya the land welcomes Kenya the daughter. We will receive you with joy, and your presence will be a blessing to our young people and the church.
"May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you." — Numbers 6:24–25
Keep running the race. Heaven sees, and so do we.
— Bishop Dr. Moses Omuse Okisai, Busia, Kenya

This is what your investment makes possible. Not just a training event — but leaders who are still teaching, still praying, still discipling. The seed planted in January is bearing fruit today with six new disciples in one of village churches. That is the Lord's faithfulness, and it is yours to celebrate too.
A conference, a commission, and fruit already bearing in Uganda
In April, we held a training conference in Mbale Uganda focused on Gospel conversations — equipping believers with the tools and confidence to share their faith naturally in everyday life. It was a powerful time of teaching, practice, and encouragement for the local church.
The church didn't wait. They went. And in their most recent outreach, seven people surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. Seven people. Seven eternities. Seven names.
"I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent." — Luke 15:7
How to pray right now
There is much to bring before the Lord in this season. Here's where I'm specifically asking for your intercession:
For my daughter Kenya. She is facing serious health challenges and needs God's healing touch. Please pray for her body, her spirit, and for our whole family as we walk through this together.
For the team on the ground in Uganda. The workers still serving the children and the community — ask God to sustain, encourage, and protect them while I am away.
For the seven new believers. New faith needs deep roots. Pray for faithful discipleship and for these seven to be fully woven into the life of the church.
For our partners in Kenya. Pray for Bishop Moses, the leaders he is discipling, and for the doors God is opening for a return visit.
For continued harvest. In Uganda, in Kenya, and wherever the Lord sends this work next.
"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." — James 5:16
Help me get back
My heart and calling are in Africa — in Uganda and in Kenya — and my desire is to return as quickly as possible. The key to that is establishing a strong base of monthly financial partners. If God is stirring something in you as you read this, I want to invite you to pray about becoming a monthly supporter.
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7
Whether you can give $25, $50, $100, or more each month, you would be directly investing in children's ministry, discipleship training, and equipping local church leaders across East Africa to keep teaching, keep praying, and keep going out. Every dollar, and every prayer, moves this work forward.
As Bishop Moses said — the seed fell on good ground, and we are watching it grow. Thank you for being part of that. Those seven salvations, those discipled leaders in Kenya — that fruit is yours too. And there is so much more to come.
— In His service, Evonne
