The Harvest is Plentiful: Stories from Kenya and Uganda

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." - Luke 10:2

Dear friends and prayer warriors,

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind—like six months compressed into thirty days. I've experienced rapid growth, deep challenges, and the unmistakable presence of God moving in powerful ways. From relocating to Mbale at the beginning of the year to organizing ministry training in Kenya, navigating my first Ugandan election, wrestling with family dynamics, spiritual battles, and physical illness, all while managing financial planning in a deficit—it's been overwhelming and beautiful all at once.

Thank you to each of you who have been covering us in prayer, standing with us in agreement, believing alongside us that God is at work here.

First Steps in Kenya

Two weeks ago, I stepped foot in Kenya for the first time—my second country in Africa! What an honor it was to establish Gospel Conversations training with Bishop Moses, a man who has dedicated to administering the gospel throughout Kenya.

We began training approximately 17 ministry leaders—evangelists, pastors, and church leaders—equipping them to train others in Gospel Conversations. Normally, this training is conducted with a full team, but by God's grace alone, I walked them through the entire curriculum. What a beautiful and challenging time it was!

After the first training, I brought four participants with me to help train the second group of 15-20 attendees over three intensive days. They helped teach different elements and grew excited about engaging their own communities and villages with evangelism.

Hearts Ignited

The participants were inspired and blessed by tools like:

  • The Three Circles - a simple gospel presentation

  • The 15-Second Testimony - how to share your story succinctly

  • Knowing who, where, and why to share the gospel

  • The 3/3 Process and Sword Method for discipleship

  • Discovery Bible Study - exploring God's commands and kingdom living

Many of these leaders have served in ministry for years, their hearts growing weary, struggling to know how to engage people and love others the way God created them to. They felt recharged, renewed, and equipped with practical tools. They're asking for more trainings and more teachings!

What became clear was the enemy's deep work of identity crisis—so many identifying by what they can do and what people think of them, rather than who God created them to be. Watching the Lord bring healing, reformation, and renewed passion was nothing short of miraculous.

The Brutal Facts and Beautiful Faith

We studied the brutal facts together: the population of their region, the number of true believers in Jesus, and the massive work that needs to be done. But rather than discouragement, this inspired them! Based on biblical principles, they caught fire with the truth that God can reach their nation if we do what Jesus did—if we do what the disciples did.

And then they went out.

When they shared the gospel, they were blown away by the openness of the harvest. Very few people said no to receiving the gospel—in fact, people were begging them to come, to share, to pray with them.

Over 23 people gave their hearts to the Lord in those two times we went to share over two hours, with many others beginning discipleship journeys. Less than five people said they weren't interested.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few."

We spent time praying for laborers and committing ourselves to raise up laborers for the harvest. There are still eight more churches to go, and many more hungering for Gospel Conversations, & discipleship training.

One pastor came to me and said, "I'm called to be a pastor, but I don't know how to rightly discern the Word of God to create a sermon. I struggle because there's so much false teaching out there. I just want to know I'm doing it right."

What a heart! What humility! They truly engaged with the interactive, discovery-based teaching—not just receiving information, but learning how to apply it to their congregations.

Bishop Moses shared that he presented the Three Circles to his congregation on Sunday, and the church was receptive, open, and excited to use the tools!

The Weight We Carry

Please continue to pray for discernment. Within these church communities, there's always struggle with power and position. The need is so great—so many lack food, can't attend school, don't have clothing or basic necessities. Everyone looks for someone to be the savior.

It's difficult not to want to meet all the needs, knowing there's literally no way in my own strength to save people in the natural sense. But I know the God who moves. I know the God who answers. I know the God who speaks.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." - Matthew 6:33

I don't serve God transactionally—"I seek You, then I get things." I seek Him because He is so good, and because He's so good, He takes care of His children. I have confidence that He has the best for me and for His people.

The Battle Around Us

There has been turmoil, frustration, threats of war, loss, death, riots—so much heaviness in the atmosphere. There's a mix of witchcraft, manipulation, and misuse of power constantly surrounding us.

Like the Psalms, I cry out: "Lord, my enemies outnumber me. My friends are turning against me." Those you think should be with you often have their own perspectives.

So I pray: Lord, keep my heart soft, tender, and true. Where I need conviction to grow, search my heart and teach me Your ways. Teach me how to love and serve others the way You do. I ask the Lord to help me speak truthfully, to be a person of integrity and honor, and that He would redeem and restore what the enemy tries to steal and destroy.

How You Can Partner With Us

We are settling back down this week, resting, and spending deep time in prayer. As we seek the Lord, we have some very practical needs and would be honored if you would partner with us:

1. Better Transportation

We desperately need a reliable vehicle to continue traveling back and forth to Kenya for trainings and to different regions where there is great need. The roads are challenging, and consistent transportation is critical for reaching remote villages and churches.

2. Monthly Financial Support

To sustain ongoing ministry work, including:

  • Setting up work and aid for the street children in Mbale (massive numbers of children in need)

  • Fellowship and discipleship for believers in the villages

  • Children's ministry reaching children excited to receive God's Word

  • Continued Gospel Conversations training across Kenya and Uganda

3. Farm/Sustainability Projects

We want to establish income-generating opportunities by raising poultry, growing food, and raising animals we can sell or use to help the community and feed our family—cutting down expenses and being resourceful. Pray that the land would be fruitful and multiply!

4. Your Faithful Prayers

Pray for:

  • Discernment, understanding, protection, wisdom, and guidance as we navigate complex ministry environments

  • Unity within our home, family, and ministry partnerships

  • Fruitfulness of the land - multiplication of fruit trees and vegetables

  • Wisdom and funds to invest well in sustainable ministry

  • That the Lord would be glorified in all we do and say

  • That many would come to know Him in the fullness of who He is
